This study generally aimed to evaluate the potential genotoxicity and anti-genotoxicity of Balakat tree using Mouse Bone Marrow Micronucleus Test in ICR mice (Mus musculus L.). Laid out in Complete Randomized Design. The experimental treatments are as follows; distilled water; Balakat tree ethanol leaf extract; Balakat tree ethanol leaf extract plus Tetracycline and Tetracycline alone. Micronucleus Test was utilized to assess the formation of Micronucleus Polychromatic Erythrocytes. The gathered data were statistically validated using One Way ANOVA and Tukey’s Test. The study revealed that the Balakat tree ethanol leaf extract did not produce considerable number of Micronucleated Polychromatic Erythrocytes (MPCES) on the Bone Marrow cells of ICR mice thus plant is considered not genotoxic. However, it was able to reduce the number of MPCES when combined with tetracycline, hence, antigenotoxic. This was attributed to secondary compound such as flavonoid, saponin and tannin which are proven anti-mutagens.
