Balakat tree (Ziziphus talanai (Blanco) Merr. are found and endemic only in the Philippines. It was discovered to cure Urinary Tract Infection and some skin diseases like ringworm and scabies. One of the diseases that people suffered is Diabetes, were it can be occurred by anyone but some other people acquire this disease hereditarily. This study aimed to evaluate the hypoglycemic potential of methanol leaf extract of Balakat tree against alloxan-induced diabetic ICR mice. In this study, forty-five mice were divided into five groups with 9 mice each. TO (water) at a dose of 0.1ml, T+ (insulin) 0.1 ml, T1 treated with alloxan and 0.1mL of methanol leaf extract of Balakat tree, T2 treated with alloxan and 0.3mL of methanol leaf extract of Balakat tree, T3 treated with alloxan and 0.5mL of methanol leaf extract of Balakat tree. The conduction process happened at Camachiles, Mabalacat City. The results of the study indicated that there was significant difference in the 4 hour interval. Furthermore, the T2 treated with alloxan and 0.3ml of methanol leaf extract of Balakat tree has much lowered than to the other treatment. Hence, the study revealed that this plant possessed the ability to lower the blood glucose level, due to the presence of the saponins and poly phenols (Kaleem et. al., 2014).
