ABSTRACT
Pyrexia refers to the classical increase in body temperature that occurs in response to a huge of infectious and non-infectious causation of a disease in association with an increase in the hypothalamic set point, this study aimed to evaluate the anti-pyretic potential of ethanol leaf extract of Balakat tree. Fever was induced by subcutaneous injection of 0.5ml/kg b.w. of mice. Mice are divided into four groups of 3 mice each. To distilled water, T- brewer’s yeast, T+ paracetamol and T1 etanol leaf extract of balakat tree received 0.5m1/20g b.w, respectively. Result revealed after four hours of observation the positive control (T+) which is paracetamolhas the normal temperature with 34.37 ยฐC, then distilled water (TO with 36.97 ยฐC and brewer’s yeast (T-) with 39.01 ยฐC which consider that the mice still have pyrexia. The extract has the potential to lower the temperature of mice might due to the presence of flavonoids and tannins. Statistical analysis with p-value of 0.0038 indicate that there treatment. is no significant difference between the
