Abstract

Plants have recently received the attention of the antimicrobial activity of plants and their metabolites due to the challenge of growing incidents resistant. This study was aimed the antibacterial and antioxidant potential to of drug-evaluate ethanolic extract and methanolic extract of leaf of Ziziphus talanai. The antibacterial activity was determined by Disc diffusion method against two bacteria, the Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The zone of inhibition of 100% ethanol leaf extract with13.30mm was observed against Staphylococcus aureus. The different extracts were also assessed for their free radical scavenging activity using DPPH radical assay. Ethanol leaf extract shows the higher scavenging activity percentage (82.50%) followed by methanol leaf extract (81. 24%).Plant extracts show significance and they possess higher scavenging activity compared to the positive control which is Cathechin. The investigation allows to support that Ziziphus talanai has the antioxidant activity and is effective against Gram-positive bacteria.
