ย ABSTRACT
This study “Antibacterial potential and Cytotoxicity Screening of different solvents of Balakat root extract” wants to prove if the roots of Ziziphus talanai has antibacterial potential and if this part of the balakat has toxic level. The roots first collected then rinse with clean water. After cleaning, the next process is air-drying. After 7 days of air-drying, the roots have been pulverized using mechanical grinder then soaked solvents (ethanol, methanol and aqueous). After soaking, the pulverized roots with solvents filtered using filter paper. And sent to Angeles for rotary evaporation. After that, the rotary evaporated extracts were then sent to DOST taguig for antibacterial potential test. The extract were also used for brine shrimp lethality assay. The extract showed no mortality rate. Balakat root extract using different solvents antibacterial potential and not lethal for brine shrimp. The researcher is expecting that this study will be used in near future for pharmaceutical cases.
