We are Ally Julian Liwanag and Jade Rizzo, 4th-year BS Biology students at Mabalacat City College, passionate about environmental conservation, plant research, and digital innovation

Ally Julian

A 4th-year BS Biology student, founded this platform together with his thesis partner to share the remarkable benefits of the Balakat Tree and promote its conservation. His journey began in his second year of college when he discovered the tree’s medicinal and ecological significance beyond its symbolic connection to Mabalacat City.

Jade Rizzo

Her interest in trees grew as they began studying them in more depth, particularly during the collection of information about the Balakat Tree.

Our Journey So Far

As a biologists students, we recognize the ecological significance of the Balakat Tree (Ziziphus talanai)—a species that remains under-documented. Our project seeks to provide easy access to vital information, highlighting the tree’s benefits, uses, and importance in Mabalacat City. By digitalizing tree data, we empower researchers, policymakers, and the local community to engage in conservation efforts more effectively.
